- Challenge events can offer a great incentive to get fitter and healthier.
- There are many events to take part in, from running and cycling events, to challenges that test your nerve such as firewalks, abseils and sky dives.
- By raising funds through sponsorship we can add Gift Aid on donations which contributes an extra £10,000 each year to SeeSaw.
- SeeSaw attends various community events taking place in Oxfordshire throughout the year
- As well as being an opportunity to generate additional funds, by having a presence at local events we are raising awareness about the work that we do with children and their families across the county
Further information about forthcoming events:
Sunday 3 September - Dragon Boat Racing
Enter a team to raise funds for SeeSaw in the 2017 Rotary Dragon Boat Festival on the Thames in Abingdon. A great day out for the whole family with craft stalls, a funfair, children's entertainment, BBC, tea and cakes, real ale beer tent. Details about the event and how you can enter a team can be found here
Saturday 16 September - Swim Serpentine
Swim Serpentine is a one-day open water swimming festival in the heart of London on the same course as the London 2012 Marathon Swimming Olympic event. SeeSaw has 10 places available for the one-mile swim - a classic distance in the world of open water swimming events. One full lap around the Serpentine makes up the one-mile swim, with swimmers taking anything from 20 minutes through to one hour to complete the swim
Contact Lucy to find out how to take part. All swimmers will need to be registered by 20th August.
Sunday 8 October - Oxford Half Marathon
This year's route kicks off on Broad Street and showcases all the highlights of Oxford's city centre. You'll then pass through the charming village of Old Marston, crossing the River Cherwell and whipping back around to Oxford University’s impressive Lady Margaret Hall, and onto Norham Gardens. Runners will finish strong back through Radcliffe Square and into the final stretch of the stunning Radcliffe Camera.
This year SeeSaw has 30 charity places for the Oxford Half Marathon and we would love for you to join us! Our places are free of charge, however we are asking our runners to set a fundraising target of £250 to help support SeeSaw's vital work with bereaved children. We're on hand to provide lots of fundraising support and advice and we'll be there to cheer you on on the day - we're with you every step of the way!
The event sold out last year and we only have 10 places remaining, so contact Lucy ASAP on firstname.lastname@example.org to find out how to take part.
Sunday 22 October - Abingdon Marathon
SeeSaw has places available for experienced runners to take part in the prestigious Abingdon Marathon. Because this race is a championship qualifier participants need to be able to complete it in 5 hours or less. There is a £35 fee payable to SeeSaw to secure your place and we would ask runners to aim to raise at least £300 in sponsorship. A SeeSaw running vest will be provided.
Volunteers Needed: The Abingdon Marathon has supported SeeSaw for many years and in return for a generous donation we provide volunteers to man water-stations and help with marshalling. So if running isn't your thing then why not volunteer to help for a few hours at the event.
If you are interested in taking part or volunteering then please contact Lucy Wise, email@example.com
